KWONG CHOW SCHOOL COURSES

About KCS Courses

Kwong Chow School courses follow the British curriculum and includes subjects compulsory by Thai law. We cover a wide range of subjects, each of which can be taken at 'A' or 'O' level, accredited by Edexcel or AQA. We also offer extra classes in English, Maths and a variety of bespoke subjects. With such a variety, we can ensure that the desires of our students are fully met.

  • At KCS, we nurture inquisitive minds.
  • We take the simple approach that big ideas + consecutive increments + practice = mastery. Throughout our courses, certain recurring themes build on the previous grades' teaching and weave an ever-richer tapestry of knowledge around the most important concepts.
  • Bringing Lessons to Life
  • Our curriculum brings lessons to life with a rich mixture of teaching tools, including interactive animations, award-winning printed books with beautiful illustrations and narrative, original CDs and videos, and materials for hands-on experiments. In addition, lesson plans for each subject are integrated, so your child may be reading literature from the same time period as the art or history lesson they are studying.
  • Lessons are followed by assessments, ensuring that children master a particular area before moving on. Our individualised approach means that students can go as fast or slow as needed. The online assessments are integrated with planning and progress tools, making it easy to find the right pace by subject, and to stay on track.
  • Language Arts/English
  • KCS Language Arts/English help students develop important reading and writing skills, while inspiring a love of literature. The program emphasises classic works; writing as a process; and the skills that will be assessed in standardised tests. Younger children learn the basics of phonics and grammar and prepare for reading through systematic activities, while older students develop literary analysis and comprehension skills by reading novels and non-fiction works.
  • Maths
  • KCS Maths balances mastery of fundamental skills with critical thinking and problem-solving. An active, multi-sensory approach ensures that students understand the concrete realities that underlie mathematical concepts. Online games and animations illustrate concepts, while challenging problems, regular practice, and reviews ensure skills in basic concepts. A thorough foundation is provided for younger students making links between the concrete and the abstract and older students encountering algebra.
  • Science
  • KCS Science balances hands-on experiments with the systematic study of terms and concepts in life, earth, and physical sciences. The programme nurtures curiosity, as students practice observation and analytical skills. Students learn how scientists understand our world and how the world is shaped by ongoing scientific and technological advances.
  • History
  • KCS History—with integrated topics in geography and civics—opens young minds to far-off lands, distant times, and diverse cultures, emphasising the story of history—a story which includes not only great men and women but also everyday people. Kindergarten students tour the seven continents and are introduced to some famous personalities. Students in grades 1–4 study civilisation from the Stone Age to the Space Age, and older students explore major themes and topics in world history in greater depth.
  • World Languages
  • KCS World Language courses help students read, write, speak, and listen through simple narratives, regular writing and speaking challenges and games. Students learn common vocabulary terms and phrases, grammar patterns and principles, and the practices and perspectives of various cultures.
  • Art and Music
  • Following the timelines in KCS History, KCS Art introduces students to great works of art from different cultures and eras, while engaging them in creative activity—painting, drawing, moulding with clay, etc. Students learn the elements of art; study important paintings, sculptures, and architecture; they explore different artistic movements, then create their own works of art, such as mobiles, collages, and stained glass.
  • KCS Music teaches basic all music concepts at age-appropriate levels. The curriculum builds in a structured way, fostering increasing music comprehension skills as students move through their school years. More than simply music appreciation, this programme helps students train their ears, voices, and bodies in the fundamental building blocks of music.
